I am a qualified counsellor with a Diploma of Higher Education in Therapeutic Counselling and Psychotherapy and continue my professional development by undertaking additional learning through regular workshops and training courses.
My training background is in the relational Approach, in which my aim is to provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to explore your feelings in order to enable you to move forward through your issues and ultimately, with your life.
I feel that I can offer a different relational experience for my clients. I am not a traditional pipe smoking therapist with a chaise longue! I understand that each person is unique and I am therefore able to use my training and knowledge of different theories, termed as an integrative approach, in order to help my clients understand their issues, which results in my clients becoming more self-aware.
As an integrative practitioner, I am able to offer techniques from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic therapy, short term and long term therapy.
I have experience of working with a wide variety of clients of different genders, from teenagers through to the elderly and all the many diverse issues that occur throughout life. I have an ability to communicate and understand those clients who have special needs and have enjoyed my work with individuals with Autism.
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapists, (BACP). I abide by the guidelines set out in the BACP’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling.
